Murder in a Small Town is on the lighter side of US styled crime drama's (although its actually a Canadian production) in a good way. This is an inherently likeable series, set in a picturesque, country town with a laid back, rather soulful, central character, of a police chief, who feels more like a writer or poet, (he is in fact also an artist) than hard nosed crime solving sleuth. Indeed, its how the central and peripheral characters are portrayed that's a big part of this series charm.
